About Me

Hello, my name is Trevor.  I have always been fascinated by cultures from around the world, which is one of the main reasons I chose to become an English teacher.  I find it incredibly rewarding to meet people from different countries, learn about their backgrounds, and help them to develop the language skills they need to achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals.  Every student brings a unique perspective, and the opportunity to connect with people from a wide range of cultures is something that makes teaching both enjoyable and fulfilling.

Although I have spent most of my life in the UK, I have also lived in France and Germany.  Living abroad gave me a valuable insight into what it feels like to communicate in a second language and adapt to unfamiliar environments.  Through these experiences, I gained a firsthand understanding of the challenges that language learners often face, such as building confidence, improving pronunciation, expanding vocabulary, and becoming comfortable using a new language in everyday situations.  At the same time, I experienced the many rewards that come from learning another language and engaging with different cultures, which helped me develop patience, empathy, and a practical understanding of the learning process.

Before becoming a qualified teacher, I regularly helped colleagues improve their English on an informal basis.  I enjoyed supporting them with grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and general communication skills, and these experiences sparked my interest in teaching professionally.  However, it was only after earning my CELTA qualification that I began applying proven teaching methods and developing my skills as an educator.  The training provided me with a strong foundation in lesson planning, student-centred learning, and effective classroom techniques, enabling me to create lessons that are both engaging and tailored to the individual needs of each learner.

Today, I teach English online and feel fortunate to have turned my passion into a career.  I work with students from a variety of backgrounds and levels, helping them to improve their fluency, accuracy, and confidence in English.  Whether a student wants to prepare for work, travel, studies, interviews, presentations, or everyday conversations, I aim to provide a supportive and encouraging learning environment where they can make steady progress and enjoy the process of learning.  My goal is not only to help students achieve their language objectives but also to build their confidence so they can communicate effectively and comfortably in real-world situations.

I look forward to hearing from you.
